The Dark Knights

So TDK has used Ventrilo as our voice program of choice for the past 5 or 6 years. We originally moved from teamspeak to Vent for the better voice quality, but the price had always been an annoyance. Nothing feels worse than having to go to your guild mates with a hat begging for money.

Well this year our vent contract came up and instead of paying another 120 bucks for a year we decided to check out the new teamspeak 3 beta. Now for the past few years Teamspeak has pretty much been the bastard step child of voice servers. I.E. you only use it if you have to cause the quality is crap….well not anymore.

Teamspeak just released their latest version Teamspeak 3 which has very competitive voice quality with Ventrilo. That… and you can run up to 512 people on your own private server for free as a non-profit.

So for the time being TDK will be swapping over to Teamspeak 3 from ventrilo. You can download the app here, then just contact Phaine in game or on the forums for server info.

Anyone who has played WoW for any period of time knows the horrors of the general and trade channel. Most of us here in TDK have joked for years that wow is the festering anus of the MMO community.

That being said its been rather slow in the MMO genre recently, and by slow I mean pretty much all of the recent releases are disappointments of epic proportions. WoW released the new dungeon finder and after reading about it, I fired up a scroll of resurrection to test it out… and here we are again playing wow. This feature is pure win.

However… here I am again having to deal with the drooling rejects of society. My brother always says if you expect the worst, you will be pleasantly surprised when something good happens. Well needless to say I was floored today.

I had just spent about 2 hours trying to form our guild getting random folks to sign the charter. In between being told to piss off or demands of extreme amounts of gold, I finally got the guild setup. Yay! So I head on over to my pally trainer to respec to tank spec and Im sporting my ghetto pally mount. So I get a tell from Kennedi.

Usually someone points out I dont have an epic, and I get about 20 minutes of “ROFL LOLERCOPTERS FAGGOT NEWB! hahaha!111!!11!” Kennedi tossed me 75g to make sure I got my mount and wished me a merry christmas. Holy crap batman… I just about had a stroke. So, for all of you who might stop by Blackrock server alliance side, please wish Kennedi a Merry Christmas for being a nice guy

I recently found this blog article out there about the new google chrome beta.

Apparently you can now sync your bookmarks for the chrome browser on any pc anywhere. So if you are like me and pretty much book mark everything, you now never have to get ticked off cause you left the link on your other pc.

Anyways take a look at the post, and stop losing pages!

We are down to less than a day from early access. Launch is tomorrow at Noon PST, 2pm CST, and 3PM EST, we will start off the vent party around Noon CST and screw around waiting till launch.

If you dont have vent info check the private forums or PM me for access. Waits almost over folks.

Ok folks its currently 2:16 cst, and there are a few issues.

Make sure you restart your client to get the new updates, and I highly recommend you follow one of the dev’s twitters, they are updating in real time. I love dev’s that communicate with the public!

They released the first patch to fix the issue about 10 minutes ago, and will shortly have the new patch ready to go. According to twitter its being uploaded as we speak.

Servers are up, entry was flawless, getting names a snap. Thanks NCSoft.

Down to just about an hour before we all get to log in and create our toons and pick our names. I just realized though staring at that toon I cant log in and play is going to be one hell of a tease. Damn you NCSoft!

Make sure that you have restarted your NCLauncher and gotten the patch, otherwise you wont be able tot log in.

Well for those of you not able to get into the League of Legends beta might want to head on over to Direct2drive.com its their 5 year anniversary and you can pick up a ton of games for $5 bucks each. This week, they got a ton of damn good games.

For 5 bucks you can definitely find something to keep you entertained.

Then I highly recommend League of Legends if you have a fileplanet subscription you can pick it up there, otherwise, sign up for the beta on their site, and you most likely will get in rather quickly.

4 – 5 of us are already in and enjoying it and we’d love more TDK in kicking ass and taking names. The game is very similar to DOTA, so if you like RTS type games, with a twist check it out and hop in vent!

Most mmo gamers will tell you that innovation in most of the current and upcoming releases is practically non-existant, now dont get me wrong, I’m not saying that every game is a cut and paste game… Im just saying if you have played WoW, then you can walk right into EQ2, LOTRO, Aion, AoC, and Warhammer with no problem. The games while not copies are similar enough that game mechanics transfer, in fact, 9 – 10 times the ui and even the hotkeys for specific items are shared.

One can say this is nice since it allows a player to easily move from game to game and already have most of the learning curve nocked out…however, it is nice to occasionally get hit in the face with a brick of innovation that literally takes you a week or month to figure out, understand, and explore.

CCP gave us this game in EvE, hell, in EvE I played for years and was still figuring the thing out. For some this is a massive turn off, for others… a massive turn on. Well today CCP announced its new MMO, Dust 514.
